Florida law specifies that workers' payment insurance is needed when a business has four or more workers, either full- or part-time.

So, do you need workers' comp for part-time workers? Unless they fall under among the 3 exceptions above, the answer is yes. Independent professionals are not considered workers, and an employer is not needed to bring workers' compensation insurance for those individuals unless they are in the construction industry.
